ABSTRACT

Has done research on reduction of Cr in tannery wastewater using electrolysis method. Electrolysis process is done with the initial pH 0.5 by addition of H2SO4 95-97%. Electrolysis is done with a variety of types of electrode, voltage and electrolysis time. Voltage that is used by 5, 10, 15 and 20V, while the electrolysis time used is 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours and the type of electrodes used is Cu-Pt, Cu-Cu and Cu-C. Electrolysis resulting solution was analyzed using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy).
The results showed that the % decrease in Cr concentration is highest at the Cu-Cu electrodes with a time of 2 hours and a 15V voltage is equal to 71.73% while for the Cu-C at the time of 3 hours and a voltage of 10V % reduction of Cr by 58.64%. And for the Cu-Pt electrodes at 2 hours and voltage 20V % reduction of Cr by 49.63%.
